Who is Essence China?
I am a accomplished entrepreneur, educator, and women empowerment speaker and coach.
As an entrepreneur for over 20 years I founded Rare Essence Studio & Rare Essence Academy a natural hair salon and education platform in Phoenix, Az.
My work as a stylist and business owner has been highlighted in Essence Magazine as well as other international publications.
In 2003, I fought the State Board of Cosmetology in the state of Arizona which opened the doors for all natural hair stylists to be able to operate without the regulations of the cosmetology board in the state of Arizona.
I now speak and coach women on how to
- Overcome Obstacles
- Become Authentically Bold
- Walk in Purpose
- Understand their RARENESS
- and Make Impact!
Hey, I'm Essence China...
I am called to women, who feel past due with accepting the call on their life.
Women who seriously want to overcome insecurity so they can boldly show up.
Women who want to brand themselves with authenticity to connect to the tribe that they are assigned to transform.
I've experienced firsthand what it feels like to know that I am called to use my voice, but wasn't quite sure what my message was and how I could get it out to the world.
Honestly, fear paralyzed me until I got fed up with going in circles.
I had to make a decision and though I was scared I overcame, and I want to help you do the same!
In this program, I want to equip to

"Essence Helped me"
As a homework assignment assigned by Essence, I chose to use the youth as my audience to (practice) teaching hair braiding thinking it would be easier, though I didn’t have plans to market to them after I finished the coaching.
Moving to Atlanta in 2021 off of obedience, I continued to witness divine interventions, in my life and in connection to Essence. Following a 21-day fast, I realized my calling to work with youth, coinciding with Essence's teachings. When I finally surrendered to my calling, I opened my laptop, and everything was already mapped out from when I attended Essence's Coaching program a few years prior, a clear sign that I was on the right path!
Now, I run a youth braid program (Proverbs 19:21), blending hair braiding with life skills and Bible study. Her coaching, from 2014 to present day, have profoundly impacted me and helped me to show up on social media using my voice to impact others.
